Cadenza 2.0 is a spiral concrete staircase spanning four floors in a private residence in Oberrohrdorf, Switzerland. The design highlights a minimalist concrete structure, with slender steps whose sharp edges flow seamlessly into a continuous 3D surface emerging from a central core.
The stair consists of 40 prefabricated steps and three landings, produced using a system of reusable formworks that combine traditional woodworking with digital fabrication for the curved surfaces. Each step was assembled on site in the existing building using only a pulley crane, avoiding the need for heavy machinery. Once positioned, the steps were connected through the reinforced cast concrete core, creating a monolithic structure across the entire height.
